Why coding?

What is Coding?

In simple terms, coding is what we do to create computer software, apps and websites.  It is using a special language that the computer can understand to tell it what you want it to do.

So, why learn Coding?

In this world of light-speed technology change, it’s software evolution that is driving progress.  In the future, the need to be able to program, and program efficiently and effectively will be an increasingly desirable skill.  Those capable of developing software, while at the same time innovating the next generation of applications will be highly sought-after to help businesses move forward.  Entrepreneurs working independently and creatively will spearhead the next industrial disruptions.

Knowing the fundamentals, in order to build new applications, as well as having the creativity to invent those applications will enable the coming generations to accelerate technological progress beyond what we experience today.  Whether it be in gaming or business, the Future Coders will be at the forefront of technological evolution.

In the classes our coaches aim to create an open, relaxed learning environment where the kids’ inquiring minds are continually stimulated, enabling the natural absorptive nature of fresh minds to grow.

Teaching kids to code – preparing them for a brighter future.

So much of our daily activity brings us into contact with electronic devices, whether it’s in the home, during our commute or at work.  Children are learning with computers at school, as well as playing with electronically controlled devices at home.

All these devices need to be programmed to enable them to do what they are designed for.  Their controls need to be told what to do, and how to do it.  This is where CODING comes in.  The devices need to be programmed with a coded language that they can understand to enable them to function.

You may have seen reports showing how important the Federal and Provincial governments consider coding to be.  They are supporting the learning of code in schools to give a basis for the next generation of Coding Professionals who will create the codes for devices that will make our lives better, safer and more effective in the future.

And that’s where Kul Coder comes in.  We go beyond the basics that schools introduce.  We teach students how to code, ie how to write computer programs, in a fun learning environment.  Through our series of courses, we start them off with fundamental principles of coding, then progressively develop their programming and organizational skills and their creativity to enable them to create their own programs in high level languages.  With this knowledge and skill, they will create their own websites, their own games and even their own control programs.

Our courses are all project-based, designed to bring kids’ creativity to life:

  • Spur creative thinking
  • Prepare kids for a tech-filled future and career
  • Prepare kids for a tech-filled future and career;
  • Reinforce overall Math skills and confidence;
  • Develop logical thinking, structured thought processes and troubleshooting skills.

We run courses in Oak Ridges and Richmond Hill, weekday evenings and Saturdays.  Courses also run in Toronto Danforth, and soon to open in Aurora.
